About Humic Acid
HUMAC Acid is obtained from activated Leonardite intended for application for animals, agriculture and the environment. HUMAC® formulas are manufactured from one of the purest sources of Leonardite - a soft waxy brownish-black mineraloid located roughly 15 meters below the earth's surface. It is the result of a millions of years long humification process - the biochemical transformation of organic residues of primeval forests. It is the richest source of humic acids, its age is estimated around 30 million years.
Humic acids are formed through the humification of organic matter (mainly plant residues), they are naturally occurring heteropolymeric carboxylic acids with a very complicated structure. They are cyclic compounds of aromatic character containing mainly carboxyl and hydroxyl groups, but also carbonyl, quinone and semiquinone groups. Aside from being ion exchangers of a reductive character, they can form different chemical bonds with a wide array of organic and inorganic substances. Simply put, humic acids contain numerous functional groups that can chemically and physically react with natural and human made substances found in our every-day environment. They have the ability to adjust pH levels, bind toxic metals and other toxic compounds (i.e. microbial toxins, mycotoxins, phytotoxins, ammonium, PCBs, dioxins, PAHs, PCP, etc.) into stable compounds and excreting them from the organism or minimizing their bioavailability and mobility in the environment.
Leonardite:

It is also a valuable source of more than 90 naturally occurring macro and micro nutrients and trace elements in a chelated bond, which allows easy absorption of these elements by living organisms. They are extremely important for the proper functioning of the nervous system and the overall harmony of the body.
